Mission Statement:
To build a community of Dermatology members dedicated to the clinical practice, delivery, and advancement of dermatology, through open, honest, and respectful dialogue.
The BDEG Clinical Community Rules of Engagement are designed to ensure the Community is efficient, independent, free from bias, clinically relevant and useful to the participating members. BDEG, with the support of their technology provider, will, to the best of their abilities and within the limitations of their resources, enforce the following:
1) Discussions must pertain to clinical, research, or healthcare policy topics related to the Mission Statement. Non-relevant discussions (e.g., discussions on politics, religion, etc.) are not allowed.
2) Clinically relevant discussions concerning medical and pharmaceutical industry suppliers and products are encouraged, but discussions intended to advertise or solely promote medical products and pharmaceutical medications are not allowed. Members are expected to disclose potential conflicts of interest that could influence how other members receive and understand their discussions and responses. Disclosures are documented within the community member profiles.
3) Members are encouraged to reference, cite, and share medical publications and information learned from medical events and courses. It is the responsibility of members to ensure they have the proper permissions to upload publications and other content to the Community forum. Discussions intended solely to promote publications, events, or courses are not allowed.
4) Medical industry sponsored marketing and events may not be referenced, cited, or shared by consultants or employees paid to produce or participate in such events.
5) Discussions concerning costs or healthcare-related finances are allowed, provided they pertain to patient care. Discussions concerning costs or healthcare-related finances that do not pertain to patient care (e.g., prices negotiated with medical industry) are not permitted. This Clinical Community may not be used to attempt to form an agreement to fix prices or otherwise restrain trade in breach of UK law or country of origin law of the member or GMC regulations.
6) This Clinical Community may not be used as a marketplace for sale of medical equipment, skin care products, or any other commercial products.
7) This Clinical Community may not be used for recruitment purposes; this includes, but is not limited to, recruitment involving job openings, research surveys, and upcoming conferences and courses.
8) Members are permitted to recommend other named healthcare providers solely for second opinions or on-going care of their patients.
9) Protected health information (PHI) is not permitted on the Community and will be proactively deleted. It is the responsibility of Community members to keep the PHI of their respective patients confidential.
10) Discussions must be collegial and professional. Discussions and responses that are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, excessively violent, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or otherwise objectionable or offensive are not allowed.
11) Clinical Community members agree not to display, distribute, license, publish, reproduce, duplicate, copy, create derivative works, nor modify, sell, resell, exploit, screen-shot, transfer or upload for any purposes, any portion of the content published on the community site by the members of this Clinical Community.
12) Failure to adhere to the BDEG Clinical Community Rules of Engagement may result in suspension or expulsion from the Community.
Some content may be developed with support from or in collaboration with BDEG corporate partners. All sponsored content appearing in the BDEG Clinical Community will be labelled as sponsored, with the corporate sponsor being clearly denoted. Corporate sponsors are limited to view-only access to their sponsored content (during the content period) and may not edit or control any responses. Receiving notifications from or reading sponsored content will not make BDEG Clinical Community members visible to corporate sponsors. Links allowing BDEG Clinical Community Members to opt out of future notifications concerning sponsored content will be clearly visible within all sponsored content. BDEG Clinical Community Members who opt-in to participating in any discussions or activities within sponsored content should be aware that their names and institutions will be visible to the corporate sponsor of the content.
